Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers are used to impressing and inspiring with their displays of skill on the ice. Today, it was the Oilers turn to be inspired by the courageous kids they met during a trip to St. Francis Children's Hospital.

Ten players, wearing special jerseys for Pink In The Rink Night coming up on Saturday, visited patients on two floors of the hospital. The Oilers signed autographs, posed for pictures, and handed out stuffed animals as they got to know the kids and their families.

"It's a blessing to be able to meet these kids," said Oilers center Gary Steffes. "I can't imagine what some of them are going through, so for us to be able to take their mind off of the illness is such an amazing feeling. Those kids are pretty brave and I'm glad we could be here to put some smiles on their faces."

The Oilers would like to thank St. Francis Children's Hospital for their help with this event.

Saturday, February 11 at 7:35 p.m. the Oilers will host the Evansville Icemen for Pink In The Rink Night sponsored by TD Williamson and Turn Tulsa Pink. The Oilers players will be decked out in special pink jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction and portions of the ticket sales will benefit women and children's cancer charities around the Tulsa area. All fans at the BOK Center are encouraged to wear pink as they take a stand against cancer and enjoy a great night of Oilers hockey.
