
Oilers Ink Returning Defensive MVP Dennis Brown

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets and AHL's Manitoba Moose, announced Monday the return of defenseman Dennis Brown, who becomes the club's first player to sign on for the 2016-17 season.
The 26-year-old scored five goals and added 30 assists in 67 games last season and was named the team's Defensive MVP in his first year in Tulsa. Brown led all Oilers blue-liners in scoring with 35 points, which was 17th among ECHL defensemen. He recorded seven assists during a four-game point streak in November, which included a career-best three assists on November 21 in a 6-1 win at Allen.
Brown has played his entire professional career under current Oilers Head Coach Jason Christie, having spent his first full ECHL season with the Ontario Reign in 2014-15. The Cypress, CA native played four years of college hockey for Western Michigan University from 2010-14, where he helped lead the Broncos to the CCHA conference championship his sophomore season in 2011-12.
The Oilers begin their third ECHL season October 15th when the team travels to face the Wichita Thunder. The Home Opener is Friday, October 21st, when Tulsa begins its ninth season of play at the BOK Center.
