Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League have activated veteran defenseman Neil Wilkinson off of the injured reserve list, head coach Garry Unger announced this afternoon.
Wilkinson has missed the last five games with a rib injury that he suffered on February 8th in Oklahoma City against the Blazers. He played with the injury the next afternoon against the El Paso Buzzards before being placed on the injured reserve list. The 6-0, 180 pound former National Hockey League defenseman has played in three games with the Oilers this season and has totaled one point on one goal.
To make room on the roster for Wilkinson, the Oilers have waived defenseman Jared Reigstad. Reigstad joined the Oilers prior to this season and has appeared in 54 games, totaling 17 points on four goals and 13 assists. He also has recorded 79 penalty minutes and a +/- rating of -5.
The Oilers will be looking to improve their playoff positioning tonight when they host the Northeast Division-leading Indianapolis Ice (35-11-7) at 7:05. Tulsa (31-18-5) is in a first-place tie in the Northwest Division standings with the Oklahoma City Blazers (32-18-3). Both teams have totaled 67 points, however, the Oilers have played one more game than the Blazers. The Amarillo Gorillas (32-19-1) are right behind the Oilers and Blazers with 65 points, but have played one fewer game the Oklahoma City and two fewer than Tulsa.
Tickets for tonight's game between the Oilers and Ice are available at local Drug Marts, the Tulsa Convention Center Box Office, the Oilers office, or by phone at 584-2000.
