
OHL Announces Disciplinary Action
March 27, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release
Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of the completion of the review of two (2) separate incidents which took place in games played on Friday, March 23rd, 2012.
Game of Friday, March 23rd, 2012 - Belleville Bulls at Ottawa 67's
The incident reviewed was a match penalty assessed to player Marc Zanetti of the Ottawa 67's for spearing during the pre-game warm-up. Based on a review by the League, player Marc Zanetti shall be suspended for five (5) games dating from and including the game of Friday, March 23rd, 2012.
Game of Friday, March 23rd, 2012 - Owen Sound Attack at Kitchener Rangers
The incident reviewed was a check to the head by player Tyler Randell of the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club. Based on a review by the League, player Randell shall be suspended for ten (10) games, dating from but not including the game of Friday, March, 23rd, 2012.
The league has taken the position, that for education purposes, any announcement regarding supplementary discipline will be supported by video footage and additional rationale for all incidents involving checking to the head, checking from behind, and others at the discretion of the league.
