Ohio Power Play Roughs Up Riders In 6-3 Victory

Columbus, OH. - Ohio scored four power-play goals and goaltender Pasquale Terrazzano made 47 saves as the Junior Blue Jackets defeated the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 6-3 at Nationwide Arena on Saturday.

Junior Blue Jackets forward Charles Brockett scored a power-play goal and another at even strength to give his club a 2-0 lead in the first period. Forward Derek Roehl scored his team-high 14th of the season on assists from defensemen Steven Spinell and Tom Janosz, who finished the contest with three assists and recorded his first point as a Junior Jacket, to extend the advantage to 3-0 heading into intermission.

Ohio built on its lead by adding two more in the second period. Forwards Dan Hobbs and Clark MacLean each scored on the power play to give the Junior Jackets a 5-0 lead, the largest advantage they have held all season. Cedar Rapids forward David Boehm put the RoughRiders on the scoreboard and forward Mike Seidel cut the deficit to 5-2 late in the second, but Ohio forward Dan Hobbs put away any possibility of a comeback with his second power-play goal of the game with under five minutes remaining in the third period.

Ohio finished the contest 4-for-6 on the power play, as Cedar Rapids converted one of six opportunities in the games. Junior Jackets goaltender Pasquale Terrazzano turned away 47 of the Cedar Rapids 50 shots for his eighth victory of the season. Cedar Rapids goaltender Brady Hjelle stopped nine of 13 shots faced for the loss before Kent Patterson replaced him after Hobbs' goal. Patterson finished with 15 saves on 17 shots.

Ohio will host the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday and Sunday. The teams will face off at the Dispatch Ice Haus on Saturday and Nationwide Arena on Sunday. Game times are set for 8 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
