Ohio falls to Stars, 3-2
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets lost to the Lincoln Stars 5-2 Saturday night. Ohio forward Derek Roehl scored two goals and Lincoln forward Jared Brown twice as well.
The Junior Blue Jackets (4-26-6, 14 pts.) were down 1-0 after a goal by Lincoln (20-12-3, 41 pts.) in the first period. Then, at the 6:57, mark of the third period Roehl scored his first of the night to tie the game at one. Forward Anthony Perdicaro picked up an assist on the play, his first point as a member of the team and center Sean McCauley was credited with the other assist.
The rest of the third period the Stars scored four goals in a time span of 11 minutes and 28 seconds, starting only 23 seconds after Roehl's first tally. Brown scored the first two times, and then Danny Baco added a power-play goal and Stephen Schultz also scored on the man-advantage.
Ohio got on the scoreboard one last time to complete the scoring, when Roehl was awarded a penalty shot and was successful against Lincoln goaltender Bryan Hogan. Junior Blue Jackets goalie Brandon Czarnecki stopped 31-of-36, while making his first career start in net.
The Junior Blue Jackets travel to Waterloo and Cedar Rapids next weekend, playing each team once. The next home game for Ohio will be Wed. Feb. 7, game time is set for 7 p.m.
