June 24, 2019 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Dallas Wings News Release
Rookie Arike Ogunbowale scored a career-high 25 points in the Wings (2-6) 86-68 loss to the Las Vegas Aces (5-4) Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Event Center. Ogunbowale's performance is the second most points scored by a rookie this season. Allisha Gray collected 11 points, coming in as the team's second leading scorer. She has eclipsed double digit scoring figures in four games this season and in three of the last four contests. This is the seventh game this season that the Wings have had two scorers in double digits. Kayla Thornton also collected 10 rebounds, posting back-to-back games with 10 or more rebounds for the first time in her career.
The two teams scrapped in the opening quarter, with four lead changes and three ties, and the Wings would go into the second quarter up 24-22 after Ogunbowale sank a three as the buzzer sounded. There would be two more ties within the first two minutes of the second quarter and the Wings would go up 28-26 after a pair of Thornton free throws. Las Vegas would break the tie and rip off a 21-6 run to end the first half, creating a hole too deep for the Wings to overcome.
The Wings will be back in action at College Park Center Wednesday, June 26 for a 7 p.m. tip against the Connecticut Sun
