NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Texas Brahmas announced Friday the first signing of the 2010-2011 season as they have re-inked forward Jason Deitsch.

Deitsch, 30, enters his seventh professional season, third with the Brahmas. Last year Deitsch posted 45 points (12 G, 33 A) in 51 games ranking him second in scoring for the team. The Cincinnati, OH native is a proven catalyst on with the special teams as he notched 20 points (6 G, 14 A) on the powerplay unit and had two shorthanded helpers. In the postseason, the 2009 reigning Playoff MVP put up five points (3 G, 2 A) in eight games.

During the Brahmas championship season, Deitsch split time playing with the Brahmas and the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). In the regular season Deitsch posted 44 points (20 G, 24 A) in 36 games for Texas and 15 points (4 G, 11 A) in 28 games with the Aeros. In the postseason the Cincinnati, OH native went on an offensive tear scoring a playoff league leading 26 points (11 G, 15 A) in 16 games. His leadership on and off the ice during the playoffs earned him the MVP award for the playoffs and his third championship in four years.

Prior to playing with Texas, Deitsch was in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and in Europe. In 69 games played in 2007-08, the quick forward put up 64 points (27 G, 37 A). As a member of the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL, Deitsch and the Cyclones went on to win the Kelly Cup, the league's coveted championship trophy.

In 2006-07, Deitsch also played with Cincinnati and posted more than a point a game with 71 points (26 G, 45 A) in 69 games. His strong play earned him a promotion to the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins where he saw action in six games and netted one goal.

The 5-foot-10 center played two seasons in the United Hockey League (UHL) with the Kalamazoo Wings and won a championship with the team in 2005-06. As a Wing, Deitsch registered an impressive 94 points (42 G, 52 A) in 84 games played. Deitsch's success in professional hockey has come to no surprise as he had an illustrious collegiate career at St. Norbert College. In four seasons in the NCAA (2000-2005), Deitsch had 184 points (64 G, 120 A) in 122 games played, making him the all-time leading scorer in school history. Deitsch is no stranger with the area and arena as he was a member of the Texas Tornado of the NAHL in 1999-00 and championship team in 2000-01.

Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes the signing of Deitsch is a step in the right direction to give the Brahmas a quality on-ice product for the fourth straight season. "In our minds re-signing Jason was pivotal as we look to make a run for the Cup next season. He has proven to be a franchise player and we look forward to what he can bring us once again," said Wildfong.
