
Odessa to host NIFL All-Star Classic

Lafayette, LA. Though the five-year-old National Indoor Football League is embarking on the first of four weeks of playoffs this weekend, officials are pleased to be looking ahead. The first ever NIFL All-Star Classic game held in a weekend full of events on Friday and Saturday, August 5th and 6th. The undefeated Odessa Roughnecks will host the event in the home of "Friday Night Lights", Odessa, Texas. A unique format, the Roughnecks will be competing against the best that the NIFL has to offer with one, in a few cases two players from each franchise around the league with all 22 teams participating.
With a committee chaired by Odessa Head Coach Chris Williams, and the participation of all 22 coaches throughout the league, the 24 man All-Star team that will face the Roughnecks was chosen. The Odessa Roughnecks, and the NIFL is pleased to announce the following 24 player and two coach roster as follows: Co-Head Coach: Mike Wyatt of River City, Co-HeadCoach: Dan "Majic" Maciejczak, DL: Alfred Dubose of Fayetteville, DB: David Phil yaw of Montgomery, TB: Rashaun Askew of Cincinnati, Dl: Bruce Blue of River City, DB: Arden Banks of Dayton, DL: John Bowman of Daytona Beach, LB: Derrick Coackley of Kissimmee, QB: Jeremy Martin, and DB: Damon Demps of Lakeland, WR: Ethnic Sands, and DL: Arpedge Rolle of Miami, TB: Roland Hayes, and DB: Randy Chappell of Beaumont, DB: Carl Greenwood of Corpus Christi, OL: Major Griffin of S.W. La, LB: Walli Munin of San Angelo, OL: Jose Martinez of Lubbock, WR: B.J. Charlton of Billings, QB: Albert Higgs, and OL: Clay Harrell, of Everette, LB: Seth Tucker of Lincoln, WR: Mike Rigell, and OL: Jason Cobb of Tri-Cities, K: Peter Garces of Wyoming.
Both coaches earned their positions by meeting the pre-determined process of having the best records in their respective conference. They will lead their team of stars in the Friday night skills competition and in the Saturday game. Other activities include a Gala Banquet on Friday and a Saturday morning player combine. This event has been designed to showcase the players involved, before the coaches and scouts of the Arena Football League, Canadian Football League, and National Football League who have been invited and welcomed to the weekend's events.
