Odessa Roughnecks Beat Beaumont 74-23

ODESSA, TX. On Saturday July 9, 2005 the Odessa Roughnecks faced the Beaumont Drillers in the first round of the 2005 NIFL playoffs. Beaumont came in to the game with a great deal confidence and a swagger that would have any opponent concerned, but not your Roughnecks.
The Roughnecks opened the game with a rushing touchdown from Percy Coleman and never looked back. After scoring 21 unanswered points Odessa finally decided to let Beaumont on the scoreboard giving up a 23yrd passing TD to the Drillers ending the first half 41-7.
The second half turned out to be as much struggle for Beaumont as the first one. After giving allowing the roughnecks to score 14 point in the 3rd quarter, and 19 in the 4th the Beaumont Drillers knew the had met there match for the third time this season. "What can I say, we have a great bunch of guys who have really bought in to the team concept. We ask them to give us 100% on the field and they give 300%. We have a great group of guys along with a great group of coaches".
The Odessa Roughnecks will face their rivals this week the Corpus Christi Hammerheads in the 2nd round of the playoffs. The tailgate party will begin at 5:00PM with kick-off following directly at 7:11PM.
