Kissimmee Kreatures News Release
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The âsale pending' sign is still out!
Negotiations continue with several groups interested in the purchase of the National Indoor Football League team which played this past NIFL season in Heritage Parks' Silver Spurs Arena.
Interest in the purchase of the Kissimmee Kreatures of the NIFL began during the second half of the season. Beginning in May several individuals heading up interested buyers contacted the Kreatures ownership.
Continued interest has escalated during the past several weeks.
"We are still discussing the opportunity for some local interests to take over the Kissimmee team and keep it in Silver Spurs Arena," said current owner-representative Anthony Pewonski. "This is a great opportunity for some people to keep this franchise viable in a community that enjoys football at all levels."
Pewonski noted that the Silver Spurs Arena is one of the finest facilities for sport and entertainment. "We've had a tremendous working relationship with the general manager Don Miers and his entire staff," said Pewonski. "The cooperation was above and beyond the call of duty when asked for help in any area of the facility."
Prospective owners are anxious to complete the deal for the team and prepare the Kreatures for another season. The team played in the same division along with the Lakeland ThunderBolts, the Daytona Beach Hawgs and the Miami Morays.
Kritter, the teams' mascot, and cheerleaders were another aspect of the team which were popular in the community.
