
OC's David Harris Honored by Baseball America

(San Ramon, CA. October 15, 2010) The Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that for the third year in a row Baseball America's Independent Top Prospects List has selected more GBL players than from any other league. Six players were selected, with five coming from t the two teams that met in the GBL Championships -- the Chico Outlaws and Na Koa Ikaika Maui. In addition, South Division Championship Series finalist Orange County Flyers had a player selected as well.
Of the 22 prospects selected by Baseball America, six were from the Golden Baseball League, five from the Northern League, four from both the American Association and the Frontier League, two from the United League, one from the Can-Am League, and zero from the Atlantic League or Continental League. Of the 64 professional Independent League teams, the Chico Outlaws of the GBL were also the only team to have three players selected, while Na Koa Ikaika Maui was one of only four other teams to have two players named
Harris, 23 made his professional debut this season for the OC Flyers out of Pepperdine University. And was the Flyers 4th outfielder to start the season. After Flyers starting center fielder Ben Johnson was acquired by the Detroit Tigers, Harris was given the bulk of the playing time. Harris responded by putting up numbers that were worthy of being Rookie of the year in the GBL, having only teammate Tyler Keeble winning the award last week.
Harris had a .330 average, 56 Runs, 87 hits, 12 - 2B, 3 - 3B, 8 - HR's, 49 - RBI, 17 SB's in 81 games.
