
Ochoa, Ruggles Sign with Hammerheads

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced today the addition of forward Samuel Ochoa and defender Drew Ruggles as they approach the start of their 2014 USL PRO regular season on Saturday.
Samuel Ochoa enters USL PRO after a previous stint with Lobos BUAP and playing with Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders FC from 2011-2013 where he made 17 appearances.
"It is exciting to be here in Wilmington," said Ochoa. "I am ready for a new challenge and I cannot wait for the season to get underway."
Prior to signing with MLS, the forward began his career with Estudiantes Tecos of the Mexican Primera in 2006 and remained with the team until his debut with the Sounders in 2011. Ochoa was also a member of the American U-20 squad in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.
Drew Ruggles will also be making his USL PRO debut with the Hammerheads this season after playing for the Michigan Bucks of the Premier Development League in 2013. The defender appeared in 10 matches, tallying one goal and one assist.
The Georgia Southern University graduate will make his professional debut with the Hammerheads after being on trial with the Charleston Battery during the 2014 Carolina Challenge Cup.
Wilmington Hammerheads FC will kick off their regular season on Saturday, April 5 at Legion Stadium versus the Harrisburg City Islanders. Gates to Legion Stadium open at 6:00 p.m. for fans and new Hammerheads merchandise will be available at the merchandise booth.
