IRVINE, Calif. (April 12, 2015) - Orange County Blues FC hosts their second match of the season Sunday, April 12th. The Blues take on Major League Soccer side Whitecaps FC 2, kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT at UC Irvine's Anteater Stadium.
Coming off a 2-1 defeat versus Arizona United SC, the Blues are looking to get their first win of the season. With new Croatian defender/midfielder Romeo Filipovic on the roster, the team adds strength to their defense. The 29-year-old has several years of playing experience in Europe and is looking to help lead Orange County.
Didier Crettenand is also a key component for the Blues and an important player both offensively and defensively. The Swiss midfielder is eager to get his first win of the season. "I know we are ready for the matchup against the MLS team and I have complete faith in our ability and game plan," commented Crettenand.
WFC2 is coming off of their first win against the Austin Aztex. The match ended in a 3-0 victory for the 'Caps with the help of goalkeeper Spencer Richey who not only made his first professional debut but also recorded his first shutout. Caleb Clarke also poses a threat for the Blues. The striker is on loan from the first team and scored WFC2's first goal in its history.
