Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week Announced
Published on January 29, 2007 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
The Week 15 recipients of the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week awards have been determined following nominations from CHL member clubs. Austin forward Henry Kuster earns selection as the Oakley CHL Player of the Week after recording eight points in four Ice Bats contests, while New Mexico netminder Scott Reid has been named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week after two impressive wins for the Scorpions.
Kuster scored eight points in three road games this week, potting a goal and two assists in a 5-4 loss in Corpus Christi on Tuesday, followed by a four point night (goal, three assists) Friday evening in a 5-2 win in Odessa. Saturday night he scored Austin's only goal, connecting for his 18th of the season in a 5-1 loss in Bossier-Shreveport. Kuster leads Austin with four game winning goals, and shares the club lead of 18 goals and five power play goals with All-Star John McNabb.
Reid posted back to back winning outings for New Mexico during the past week, first making 42 stops in a 2-1 home win over Amarillo Thursday afternoon at the Scorpions Kid's Day Game. Two nights later he made 28 saves on the road in a 3-2 win over Odessa. Reid, named the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender for the 2003/2004 season, has split most of the season between New Mexico and the Milwaukee Admirals, the Scorpions American Hockey League affiliate.
