Oakley CHL Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

Odessa center Mike Rutter and Amarillo netminder Shawn Degagne have been selected as the Week 12 recipients of the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week awards. Rutter led the Jackalopes to a pair of impressive road victories in Laredo and Corpus Christi, while Degagne posted two shutouts and a perfect record of 3-0-0 during the week.
Rutter scored seven points in two road wins over Southeast Division frontrunners Laredo and Corpus Christi. January 7th in Laredo he scored a power play goal and added two assists in a 3-2 win, then exploded for four goals the following night in a 5-2 win at Corpus Christi. Rutter joins Colorados Riley Nelson (December 22nd) as CHL players scoring four times in a single game this season. In his third season with Odessa, Rutter has scored 58 goals and added 110 assists for 168 points.
Behind the play of Degagne, Amarillo has crept to within two points of San Angelo in the ultra competitive Southwest Division. Degagne earned his first two shutouts of the season during the week, making a combined 50 saves to blank both San Angelo and Lubbock. Last season Degagne started for the Southern Conference at the 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star Game in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while earning a career high 31 wins and ultimately leading the Gorillas to their first ever appearance in the Southern Conference Finals.
