November 15, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Oakland Roots News Release
Today, Oakland Roots SC announced plans to host viewing parties for the World Cup Games on December 10th and December 18th. Both events will begin at 7am with doors opening at 6:45am. The quarterfinals on the 10th will take place at Plank and the Final on the 18th at Line 51 Brewing both near Jack London Square.
"Celebrating the World's Game with our diverse community in Oakland is going to be truly special," said Roots Chief Marketing Officer Edreece Arghandiwal. "We look forward to seeing the Roots and Soul family together over the Holidays for some more soccer."
The viewing on the 10th for the Quarterfinals will be in conjunction with Oakland Roots' Purpose Partner, Soccer Without Borders (SWB). SWB and Oakland Roots are recommending a suggested $15.00 donation to Soccer Without Borders Oakland to attend. Both events will also serve as part of Oakland Roots Holiday Toy Drive. Fans are encouraged to bring new toys or gift cards to donate to those who do not have the means to buy gifts for the holidays.
"Soccer Without Borders feels like a second home, a place where I can relieve my stress from school. First is soccer. Just playing soccer makes me very happy. Second, are my friends on the team. They are like a second family to me," SWB current participant from Eritrea, Nimrod.
Additionally, Oakland Roots will be raffling off a TV (courtesy of Hisense) at both watch parties.
