February 23, 2024 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Oakland Roots News Release

Oakland, CA (Feb. 23, 2024) - Oakland Roots Sports Club today released the 2024 CHARLY Official USL Championship First, Second, and Goalkeeper Jerseys in partnership with Oakland Roots SC's Premier Partner, Anthem Blue Cross, as the front of jersey partner. Oakland Roots SC's long-time partner AVA Community Energy is a new addition to the back of the jersey and the Oakland Airport and I FLY OAK badge return on the sleeve.

"Dropping a new jersey to the world is my favorite time of year," said Chief Marketing Officer Edreece Arghandiwal. "Our club is about telling stories and paying homage to the iconic people and places that make 'The Town' the greatest city in the world. So much of our lives are spent together, and we are excited to release jerseys that commemorate this special community."

The 2024 Oakland Roots SC CHARLY First Kit is styled with a black base color, overlaid with a striking mosaic of geometric shapes. This kaleidoscope of colored shapes symbolizes diversity and unity, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the club and community.

The design suggests a sense of forward motion and growth, much like the vertical advancement the club aims to embody. The geometric shapes are seen as building blocks, representing the foundational strength and structure of the club, each block a step in its upward journey. The overall aesthetic of the jersey is modern, bold, and energetic, aiming to resonate with fans and players alike and to make a statement both on and off the field.

"Dropping custom kits is our favorite thing to do as a brand," said CHARLY USA Managing Director Jason Wells. "Oakland Roots as a partner and the iconic city of Oakland only make us better at what we do. Their unique approach to their brand and authentic connection to their diverse fans give us limitless opportunities to create amazing products for years to come."

The 2024 Oakland Roots SC CHARLY Second Kit is a stylish and meaningful homage to the iconic Tribune Tower in Oakland, California, coinciding with its centennial celebration. The jersey employs a refined color palette inspired by the Tower's architectural hues, with a base of pale off-white complemented by accents in soft teal and warm copper tones, reminiscent of the oxidation and brickwork found on the historic building.

The design features a complex pattern of angular, geometric shapes in various shades of gray, subtly echoing the tower's faceted structure and the interplay of light and shadow on its surfaces. This mosaic of shapes not only represents the towering verticality of the Tribune Tower but also symbolizes the upward growth and ambition of the Oakland Roots SC. The pattern is a visual metaphor for progress, with each shape building upon the other, much like the stories within the tower and the unfolding chapters of the club's history.

This jersey is more than sportswear; it's a tribute to the club's local heritage and a statement of its forward-looking vision.

The 2024 Oakland Roots SC CHARLY Goalkeeper Kit is in Oakland's signature green and yellow, overlaid with dynamic, abstract mosaic patterns that give a sense of movement and energy. The patterns are angular and intersecting, reminiscent of Jorge Campos' memorable fashion sense. This jersey combines the spirit of Oakland's colors with a flair for the dramatic, much like the legendary goalkeeper it pays homage to.

Fans can purchase the 2024 Jersey at shop.oaklandrootssc.com or for the first time exclusively in person at Oakland Fans Fest at Bloc 15 on Saturday, February 24. Jerseys will be available at the Oaklandish Downtown store beginning Tuesday, February 27.
