INDIANAPOLIS, IN - New York Red Bulls II (1-9-1, 4 points) fell to the Indy Eleven (5-3-2, 17 points), 2-0, on Saturday, May 21, at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
Indy took the lead in the 30th minute off a throw-in from the far side of the field that took a few deflections off New York players and found its way into the back of the net.
They doubled their advantage right before the half. Noah Powder sent a long lead pass up the field to Jonas Fjeldberg, who made a run from the halfway line, collected the ball on a breakaway, and sent a shot into the net.
Derrek Chan made his first professional start in the match in his second appearance of the season. He recorded three saves in net.
Red Bulls Academy midfielder Sam Williams made his seventh start of the season, surpassing his 2021 total of six. He passed that mark in seven less matches, doing it in his 11th appearance of the season compared to his 18 last season.
Adam Najem made his club debut for New York, coming on as a halftime substitute. Jack Casey made his professional debut, as he entered in the 82nd minute.
Following the match, New York will return home to face Birmingham Legion FC on Friday, May 27. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is set for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.
