
Nyassi Set to Sign with Eddies

EDMONTON, AB (February 10, 2015) - FC Edmonton announce today that the club has come to an agreement with Sainey Nyassi for the Eddies 2015 North American Soccer League (NASL) roster. Nyassi will join the club for the next season pending ITC approval. As per club policy, the terms of the contracts are not disclosed.
"I am excited about Sainey coming to the squad," said FC Edmonton's head coach Colin Miller. "He's had a good career in MLS and he's attack-minded and has great pace. He'll be a great addition for us in our attacking options and I think he'll be a great asset to our team."
Nyassi, 26, began his soccer career in Gambia, his home nation, for GFA League First Division Gambian Ports Authority. He was scouted by Major League Soccer's (MLS) New England Revolution in 2007 and signed with the club shortly after. Nyassi remained with the Revolution until 2013 when he signed with D.C. United until 2014. Nyassi most recently comes from Finnish Club RoPS where he signed a season long contract with the club.
"I'm excited to join the team and looking forward to working with the players and coaches," said Nyassi. "I am thankful for the opportunity, and I just want to contribute to the team's success."
Nyassi has also represented Gambia at several international levels including the U-17 World Championships in 2005 and the U-20 Championship in 2007. His first senior team call-up was in 2010 in the qualification rounds of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match again Namibia.
In 2012 Nyassi received his U.S green card with qualifies him as a domestic player.
