New York Cosmos News Release
NEW YORK (February 10, 2015) - The New York Cosmos announced today that the club will hold trials for New York Cosmos B, its new National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team, on March 28-29. Current first team assistant coach Alecko Eskandarian will also serve as head coach of Cosmos B.
"I'm extremely excited about being named the head coach of Cosmos B," said Eskandarian. "The creation of this team represents an important step for the future of our club, and I'm looking forward to implementing the standards and values of the first team down to our NPSL team."
Eskandarian joined the Cosmos coaching staff in February 2013. Before coming to New York he served as Youth Technical Director for the Philadelphia Union. The remainder of the Cosmos B coaching staff will be announced at a later date.
"It's important that our Cosmos B set-up shares the same vision as the first team," said Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese. "We want the B team players to play with the same style and philosophy. Having Alecko in charge of their development will ensure continuity from team to team and coach to coach."
New York Hospital Queens, official hospital of the New York Cosmos, will sponsor the tryouts for Cosmos B.

The NPSL has experienced meteoric growth since its inception in 2002, growing into a robust league with teams across the country. Currently the NPSL has over 70 teams in four regions: West, Midwest, Northeast, and South. Current Cosmos Head Scout and Performance Analyst Dane Murphy (New York Athletic Club) and current Cosmos player Jimmy Mulligan (Brooklyn Italians) are both NPSL alumni.
New York Cosmos B will play in the Northeast Region's North Atlantic Conference. Their 2015 opponents will include the Brooklyn Italians, Greater Lowell United FC, New York Athletic Club, Rhode Island Reds, Seacoast United Mariners, and Seacoast United Phantoms.
