NY/NJ Comets News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - April 25, 2013 - Owner/GM, Michael Neuwirth announced today that the Comets have signed free agent and former University of Michigan star Dorian Shaw for the 2013 season.
"Dorian attended our tryouts and made an immediate impression on the coaches, fans and other athletes," stated Neuwirth. "She impressed me with her glove, powerful bat and overall presence on and off the field. When I watched the coaches, athletes and fans react in awe to a home run she hit, I knew that she belonged in the NPF."
Shaw will add depth to an already impressive Comets roster. She can play first base, third base and be utilized as a designated player in the batting lineup. Her career numbers at Michigan include a .315 batting average with 58 home runs, 178 RBIs and a .663 slugging percentage. She was also a first round selection of the Chicago Bandits in the 2011 NPF draft and hit 2 home runs with 4 RBIs in limited action. Shaw did not play in the NPF in 2012.
"I am excited about returning to the NPF and could not be any happier to join the Comets. The talent the management is attracting will make for an extremely competitive summer. I want to thank Coach Nelson and Mr. Neuwirth for the opportunity to be a part of the team and look forward to this summer season!"
