U.S. National Team News Release
PLYMOUTH, Mich. - USA Hockey's National Team Development Program enters the weekend with a 21-12-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record across all competitions.
U.S. National Under-17 Team
The U17s (7-10-0-1) host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Friday (Nov. 16) before facing the Chicago Steel for the first time during the 2018-19 season Saturday (Nov. 17) at USA Hockey Arena.
The U.S. National Under-17 Team traveled to Saint John, N.B. for the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge from Nov. 1-8. The U17s returned with a 1-3-1-0 record after the five-game stretch. Dylan Peterson (Roseville, Calif.) and Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) led the team in points with four in five games.
U.S. National Under-18 Team
The U18s will meet the Omaha Lancers for the second time this season Friday (Nov. 16) at Ralston Arena before closing out its weekend schedule with a matchup against the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Saturday (Nov. 17) at Mystique Community Ice Center.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team traveled to Krava?e, Czech Republic, for the Fall Under-18 Five Nations Tournament between Nov. 7-11 at Buly Aréna. The 2001 age group remained undefeated in international play and took home first place for the fourth time in international competitions.
John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.), Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.), Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas), Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) and Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) tallied two goals or more in one game during the tournament. Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) and Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) combined for a 1.75 goals against average and .911 save percentage.
The U18s outscored its competition 24-7 and outshot their opponents 175-79. The 2001 age group now hold an 18-0 record in international matchups, dating back to the 2017-18 season.
