Flyers announce new handicap club seating!
SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Schaumburg Flyers are proud to announce the launch of handicap club seating at Alexian Field.
"We didn't think it was fair that people with disabilities have always been limited to sitting in the last row at ballparks," said Flyers General Manager Ben Burke. "So, we decided to design a special section. Now, those with disabilities can enjoy the very best seats in the house."
The new section is indeed the best that Alexian Field has to offer. Located directly behind home plate, the Flyers' handicap club seating is actually in front of the first row, and provides a view of the action that is second to none.
"The Schaumburg Flyers organization has been proactive in welcoming children, teens and adults with disabilities," said Northwest Special Recreation Association Director Susie K. Julison. "The new seating will be easy to reach, is fully accessible, and provides the best view of the game. We commend their approach to provide access that is front and center!"
Five handicap club seats are available for every game during the 2009 season. For more information or to reserve the best seat in the house today, call the Flyers ticket office at (847) 891-2255.
Make-up dates announced
SCHAUMBURG - Last Friday's 6:45 game between the Flyers and RailCats was rained out. The Flyers announced today that the game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on July 22nd.
Schaumburg and Gary were already scheduled to play an early 12:05 game on the 22nd as the Flyers hosted their second of two day camp days at Alexian Field. The two teams will meet again that evening for a 6:45 game. Gates will open at 10:35 for the first game and at 5:15 for the second game.
The fireworks show originally scheduled for last evening will be made up on Friday night July 31. July 31st was originally the only Friday on the Flyers 2009 schedule without fireworks. Game time on July 31st will remain 6:45 pm.
Additionally, the Flyers will plan to make up the May 26 rain-out against Fargo with two seven-inning games on Tuesday July 28. The first game will begin at 5:15, with the nightcap starting shortly after the conclusion of game one. Gates will open on July 28 at 5:05.
Tickets purchased for any Flyers rained out game, or reading program vouchers for rained out games can be exchanged for like seats for any other Flyers game in 2009, subject to availability.
Flyers aim for World Record
The Flyers will spin you right round, baby, right round like a record. A world record, that is.
On July 31st, 2009, you can be part of history! That's Pat's Italian Beef and the Schaumburg Flyers will collaborate after that night's game in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the largest dizzy bat race. Guinness Book of World Records Officials have been invited to Alexian Field to witness and confirm the event, and officially include the Flyers fans in the record book.
"That's Pat's Italian Beef has been sponsoring our Dizzy Bat Race at the ballpark for a few season's now, and Pat asked me this off season if he could do something bigger," said Flyers General Manager Ben Burke. "We said, 'How about world-record-big?', and here we are. We are so pleased to have That's Pat's sponsoring this event. It should be a lot of fun."
Each fan will have their own bat, and they will spin seven times and then run approximately 30 feet to the finish line. The Flyers plan to run several heats in order to set the record beyond reach.
Fans with tickets for that night's game can register to be a contestant in this event by calling Liz Hamilton at the Flyers office to book their spot. Liz can be reached at 847-891-2255 x 141.
