Novella Assigned, Roster Shuffled In Week Five

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league have announced OL/DL Amadeo Novella has been assigned to the Lightning by the af2 League Office.
Additionally, WR/DB Vernon Smith has been placed on the injured reserve list, while WR/DB B'Jay Jones and WR/LB Chris Stallworth were activated off the injured reserve list. DB York Frierson and OL/DL Cornelius Lambert were activated off injured reserve and placed on re-assignment.
A local product of San Jose State University (NCAA) and Sacramento City College, Novella spent the final two seasons of his college football career with the Spartans, starting 15 of 18 games along the frontline in 2004 and 2005. As a 2004 junior, the the burly 6-foot-5, 315-pound 24-year old started all 11 games at the offensive guard position before shifting to the offensive tackle position.
Previous to transferring to San Jose State, Novella spent his first two seasons with the Panthers, where he earned first-team all-conference honors as an offensive tackle as a 2003 sophomore.
Stockton returns to play tomorrow against the defending ArenaCup champion Spokane Shock in a week five matchup, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena.
