Nothing good on the news for the Jr. Blues, Wolverines extend win streak to 9 games...and counting!!!

In the first of a three-game series your Anchorage Wolverines leave victorious winning 5-1 against the Springfield Jr Blues.

Fedya Nikolayenya opened the scoring just twenty-seven seconds into the first period going off the iron and in, to start the scoring. Springfield's Logan Ganz responded, tieing the game less then a minute after Nikolayenya's tuck. The first period ended tied at ones.

After a back and forth fast paced second period, Anchorage took the lead 2-1 on a power-play goal scored by #12 Kade Shea for his 12th tuck on the season. Shea showed some elite hand eye stick skill with a crossbody tip net front off Trent Powell's shot from the point. Scoring again with twenty-eight seconds in the second period Nikolayenya scored his second of the game off a rebound from a Cole Christian shot.

Wolverines entered the third period up 3-1 before going up 4-1 with a goal from Romo Riego De Dios who was all alone net front for a tap in from a beautiful Tim Kim pass. Springfield called timeout down 4-1 pulled goaltender JJ Cataldo who had 44 saves on 48 shots. Artem Shchipanov sealed the deal with an empty netter to make the final score 5-1 for your hometown Anchorage Wolverines.

Liam Beerman turned away 19 saves on 20 for his 22nd win of the season. The Marquette, Michigan native is 22-9-3 on the season with a 2.449 GAA and a .921%.

Wolverines continue to add to their current win streak making tonights win the 9th and counting.

Anchorage Wolverines are currently 2nd in the Mid-West division with a record of 31-13-2-2.

Wolverines face Springfield again tomorrow Saturday, March 9th at 7pm at the Ben for game two of our three game set.
