Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Wranglers are excited to announce the signing of a new quarterback to the 2025 roster, CJ Fowler. (This signing is presented by Urban Desert Landscape.)

Fowler (6'2 - 215 lbs.) enters his first season in the Indoor Football League with the Wranglers but has accumulated professional experience overseas. Fowler is originally from Mesa, Ariz. where he attended Desert Ridge High School and led the school to their most recent State Championship game appearance. Fowler is excited to play for the Wranglers in Northern Arizona and stay in his home state. Most recently in 2024, Fowler was the starting quarterback for the Oslo Vikings. The Oslo Vikings are an American football club located in Oslo, Norway, that compete in the Swedish Superserien. In eight games with the Vikings, Fowler totaled 22 touchdowns with only two interceptions. Fowler helped lead the Vikings to their first ever playoff appearance in the Superserien.

Fowler began his professional football journey overseas in 2022 when he joined the Tychy Falcons of the Polish Football League. In just two games with the Falcons, Fowler put up over 900 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Falcons scored 105 points in those two games and earned a playoff spot. Fowler relocated in 2023 to play for the Swarco Raiders of the Austrian Football League. Fowler had a brief stint with the Raiders before making a return to the Tychy Falcons to finish the 2023 season. The Falcons welcomed him back with open arms and he picked up right where he left off. Fowler then earned the opportunity to be the starting quarterback of the Vikings in his most recent professional season. Fowler led both the Falcons and the Vikings to playoff appearances and that is the standard he is planning to uphold for the Wranglers in their upcoming season.

During his college years, Fowler racked up an impressive 6,082 passing yards and 41 total touchdowns. Fowler began his collegiate career at Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Miss., where he played two seasons. Fowler made an immediate impact, earning the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award from Mississippi Valley State. Fowler also broke the MVSU record for the highest completion percentage in a single game. After his sophomore season, Fowler transferred to Western New Mexico University, where he would dominate opposing defenses. Fowler was the starting quarterback for Western New Mexico University and would go on to earn All-Conference Honors in the Lone Star Conference. In what would be his senior year, he was voted a team captain by both his teammates and coaches. Fowler recorded the most passing yards in Western New Mexico school history for both a single game and a full season. In addition to these records, Fowler tallied the most total yards in a season by any player in Western New Mexico history. Fowler graduated from Western New Mexico with his bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology and political science.

Fowler has been playing football since the age of five years old and has had a football in his hand as long as he can remember. Regarding his early inspiration to play, Fowler said, "This is my 20th year playing organized football, I played other sports growing up too, but playing football was all that I really wanted to do." Fowler added to this by saying, "It started with me watching my dad play flag football, I started to watch NFL games every Sunday and Monday and played my first season of flag football when I was five." Regarding his drive to continue playing football, Fowler said, "I love the game of football. I am curious about how far I can take my career on the field. I want to continue to create a platform to bring people closer to the truth about where my talent and abilities come from. My ability comes from God, and I want to make God famous."

Fowler is thrilled to join the Wranglers organization and work alongside new offensive coordinator Siaha Burley. Fowler stated, "I know that the Wranglers organization has Championship DNA, and they know what it takes to win." Fowler expanded on his connection with coach Burley which led him to join the team. Fowler said, "Coach Burley played football with my dad and has followed my football journey, I can't wait to work with him and if it wasn't for him, I don't think I would have considered playing in the IFL." Fowler added to this by saying, "I have heard that there is a lot of talent in this league, I am interested to see how it all plays out on the field, and I am grateful for the opportunity to play."

What can Wranglers fans expect from Fowler as a player? Fowler said, "I bring good energy to the field, and I take pride in the way that I carry myself off the field." Fowler expanded by saying, "I approach the game and conduct myself as a pro, I don't take the opportunity to play football professionally for granted. I am a detail-oriented player who works hard and loves the game, you will see me smiling on the field." Fowler is a confident player but emphasized the importance of humility within his career. Fowler stated, "I can't wait to connect with Wranglers fans and be a guy that any fan can easily talk to. I am just a human who put his passion into football. I want to be a player that the community can embrace as a person and not be put on a pedestal."
