North Shore Spirit re-sign Oglesby

LYNN – The North Shore Spirit have re-signed first baseman/DH Travis Oglesby.

Oglesby, 25, hit .273 with six doubles, 18 home runs and 64 RBI in 79 games for the Spirit in 2004.

A native of Santa Rosa, Calif., Oglesby was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 25th round in 1999. After playing in the Arizona organization for two years, he has played in independent leagues since 2001. He was acquired by the Spirit in the first official trade of the 2004 season, after spending the 2003 season with Rio Grande and Jackson, both members of the Central League.

The North Shore Spirit are members of the new CanAm League, which will begin play in 2005. The league also features Bangor, Brockton, Elmira, New Haven, New Jersey and Québec. An eighth team is expected to be added for the 2005 season.
