
North Shore Spirit name Wetherbee Media Relations/Community Events Manager

LYNN â The North Shore Spirit have named Julie Wetherbee Media Relations/Community Events Manager.
A 2003 graduate of Boston College, Wetherbee will be responsible for handling all media requests and preparing press releases, game notes and publications. She will coordinate appearances for Spirit players and the mascot, Slugger. She will also be involved in community events involving the Spirit.
While at BC, Wetherbee provided the color commentary for Eagles' football games on WZBC. After graduating, she worked as a production assistant at WHDH TV Channel 7 in Boston.
"We are pleased to add Julie to our dynamic front-office team," Spirit General Manager Brent Connolly said. "Julie brings media experience and enthusiasm to the organization and is eager to promote the Spirit."
In other Spirit news, the team also announced the following hires:
* Seth Bettan, ticket sales manager. Bettan, a 2004 Endicott College graduate who served as an intern with the Spirit last year, will be working under Chris Ames, director of entertainment and ticket sales.
* Kurt Cochran, senior account executive. Cochran is a former advertising sales manager for Essex County Newspapers.
* Courtney Deveau, administrative assistant. A 2004 graduate of Boston University, Deveau, a lifelong Lynn resident, was a sportswriter for the BU Daily Free Press and a sports content producer at Boston.com.
* Marty Ginivan, account executive/group sales. Ginivan will focus on selling group tickets and packages.
The North Shore Spirit are members of the new CanAm League, which will begin play in 2005. The league also features Bangor, Brockton, Elmira, New Haven, New Jersey and Québec. An eighth team is expected to be added for the 2005 season.
