Roanoke Dazzle News Release

ROANOKE, Va., Dec. 21– Mikki Moore scored 17 points and had 13 rebounds in the 94-83 loss to the North Charleston Lowgators Saturday night at the Roanoke Civic Center. Both teams fouled early and often, combining for 45 team fouls.

North Charleston won the physical game from the line. The Lowgators shot 88 percent from the charity stripe in a 22-25 effort. The Dazzle made only 65.5 percent from the stripe, going 19-29.

"The key thing in the game is that they missed three free throws," said Dazzle head coach Kent Davison. "We missed ten free throws. I'll tell you what, the glaring point is that we don't make any threes."

The Lowgators had four starters get in double figures, led by Damone Brown and Corey Benjamin, each with 20. Sedric Weber added 17 points to go along with his 12 rebounds and Tierre Brown had 14.

Roanoke managed to get three starters in double figures, led by Jamal Robinson's 19. Moore contributed his 17 and Geoff Owens had 12 in his fourth start of the season.

"The thing that stood out to me is we only had 9 turnovers," said Lowgator coach Doug Marty. "This is the first time this year we have had less than 10 turnovers, so that was really critical for us. That is the reason we were able to pull away."

Roanoke had another good shooting night from the field, going 32-68 for 47.1 percent. The dazzle did not make a shot from behind the three point line all night, going 0-8.

North Charleston went 33-78 from the field, 42.3 percent. The lowgators made six of their 15 three point attempts, for 40 percent.

The Dazzle return to action Monday night at the Roanoke Civic Center against the Mobile Revelers. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m.
