North Carolina FC News Release
Windsor, C.O. - North Carolina FC continue their away stretch as they head to Colorado to face the Northern Colorado Hailstorm on Saturday, September 23, at 10:00 PM ET (7 PT) at Future Legends Complex. North Carolina enter the weekend atop the USL League One table tied with 53 points alongside the Hailstorm but are on top with win differential.
North Carolina FC gained their first win of the week with a 3-0 win over Central Valley Fuego FC this past Wednesday at Fresno State Soccer Stadium. Nathan Ntalu recorded his first professional assist after slotting in the perfect ball for Oalex Anderson to put away his 15th goal of the season. A quarter of the way through the match Jaden Servania squared the ball at the top of the box for Garrett McLaughlin to take on a defender to hit an upper left corner screamer. Servania drew a late penalty for Rafa Mentzingen to put away for the third and final goal of the match for a 3-0 win. Brooks Thompson recorded his second clean sheet with the North Caroline FC.
After the recording three goals during the week, North Carolina now sits tied in first for the league in goals with 52 alongside Northern Colorado and South Georgia Tormenta. North Carolina has several league leaders including forwards Rafa Mentzingen and Oalex Anderson. Both are in the running for Golden Boot, Anderson in second with 15 goals and Mentzingen tied in third with 12 goals. North Carolina have scored in each of their last 16 games in the USL League One, scoring 35 goals in that run. The impressive offense of North Carolina allows them to keep the scoring streak alive, and they are on the hunt for a clean sheet this upcoming weekend.
Scouting Northern Colorado
North Carolina and the Hailstorm will face each other for the third time this season, as NCFC took the first match up, 2-0, at home in July, and the Hailstorm took the second match 0-2 at WakeMed Soccer Park in 1-2 in August. Northern Colorado is on a five-match winning streak since August 26th, when South Georgia Tormenta had a draw with them at Optim Sports Medicine Field.
Players to Watch
North Carolina FC - Brooks Thompson
The goalkeeper has stepped up in his role with North Carolina FC. Thompson had been making an impact with the top tier team since making his start, now with two clean sheets. Going into the weekend he has 22 saves, and two clean sheets. Going into his second match of the week, Thompson is looking to keep the heavily offensive Northern Colorado from scoring and completing his third clean sheet of the season.
Northern Colorado Hailstorm - Forward Trevor Amann
The forward has set standards for himself throughout this season. Amann has set a 20 goal record for the USL League One. Amann has been an attacking force the entire season however, with the playoffs looming, he has been the attacker to look for during matches. Northern Colorado looks to gain the first-place spot during this first and second place match up.

North Carolina FC will be back at WakeMed Soccer Park to take on the Union Omaha on Friday, September 29th, with a 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff. The match will stream on ESPN+ and @NorthCarolinaFC will provide social media updates.
