North Carolina Courage Players Return from International Duty

Cary, N.C. - North Carolina Courage players McCall Zerboni, Crystal Dunn, Abby Dahlkemper, Merritt Mathias, Samantha Mewis and Debinha have returned to North Carolina this week after playing with their respective national teams in the Tournament of Nations. With their return, national team replacement players Sarah Teegarden, Morgan Reid, Ryan Williams and Carlin Hudson have been released but continue to train with the team.

The United States Women National Team players return after winning the Tournament of Nations in thrilling fashion defeating Brazil 4-1 in the final match of the competition. Dunn, Dahlkemper, Mewis and Zerboni all saw action in the tournament while Mathias was an unused substitute. Courage midfielder Debinha started all three matches of the tournament for Brazil, earning her 60thinternational cap in her match against Japan on July 29.

The four national team replacements accompanied the team to Miami where the NC Courage captured the first ever Women's International Champions Cup by defeating French powerhouse Olympique Lyonnais 1-0 on July 29. Teegarden and Williams earned significant minutes in the tournament, while Reid made her professional debut appearing in both matches as a substitute.

Additionally, NC Courage defender Yuri Kawamura suffered a season-ending injury in the final match of the Women's ICC tournament, forcing her to leave the game in the 30th minute of play.

The North Carolina Courage return to Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park on Sunday, August 5 at 6:00 p.m. ET to take on Portland Thorns FC for the third time this season.
