Sky Blue FC News Release
Orlando, Fla. - Sky Blue FC (0-13-3, 3 points) will return to National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) action on Sunday, traveling to play the Orlando Pride (8-6-5, 29 points) at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla. The match-up gets underway at 7:30 p.m. ET, and fans can watch live via NWSLsoccer.com or the NWSL app.
Sunday night marks the second meeting of the season between these two clubs, with the first match also occurring at Orlando City Stadium back in June. In their first contest, Sky Blue FC fell behind 1-0 in the 3rd minute before Imani Dorsey picked off a defender in the midfield and attacked the goal in the 16th minute. While an initial shot by Dorsey was saved by Pride netminder Ashlyn Harris, Savannah McCaskill was there to bury the rebound and level the game at one apiece. Orlando regained the lead in the 31st minute, but Sky Blue FC was once again able to equalize when Madison Tiernan put away a rebounded shot by Katie Johnson just six minutes later. Unfortunately for the visiting side, the Pride eventually claimed a 3-2 result when Rachel Hill scored an Alex Morgan feed in the 83rd minute.
Sky Blue FC will be looking to snap a four-game skid in Orlando, most recently falling to Portland Thorns FC two weeks ago at Yurcak Field. In an eventual 2-1 result, Sky Blue FC held an 18-8 edge in shots and saw two potential equalizers hit the woodwork in the second half. Scoring the lone goal for Sky Blue FC was Dorsey in the 27th minute, who put away a McCaskill assist.
The Pride is currently on a two-game unbeaten streak following a 2-1 win over Utah Royals FC and a 1-1 stalemate with Seattle Reign FC.
Historically, the overall series with Orlando is 3-2-1 in favor of the Pride, which also holds a 2-1-0 advantage over Sky Blue FC at Orlando City Stadium.
Sky Blue FC will return home to Yurcak Field on Saturday, August 11, hosting the Houston Dash for a 7 p.m. kickoff at its Champion Women! Night. When gates open at 6 p.m., a special concert will be held on the concourse by the Grouser Girls, presented by Skye Energy Drink. Tickets for that game are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
