SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- While the Mississippi RiverKings may have fallen to the IceGators on Saturday night, the team raised money for a local nonprofit close to the heart of the organization through a special post-game jersey auction.

The RiverKings wore specialty Noah's Gift jerseys during the game on Saturday, October 26. The jerseys resembled those shirts worn by runners and skaters in the third annual Noah's Gift 5k held that morning in Hernando, Miss. The race itself had over 200 participants along with more than 100 volunteers and is one of the leading fundraisers for the endowment fund alongside the RiverKings jersey auction. The auction raised over $2,000.

"It was great to see the RiverKings players supporting local non-profits so early in the season," said Noah's Gift Event Coordinator Glenda Gurley. "It was just their first game and they were able to raise over $2,000! The money goes to the Noah's Gift Fund, which gives back to teens."

RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations won the Winged Wheels Award at the race for fastest skate time, while the IceGators' Head Coach and former RiverKings' Coach Kevin Kaminski ran the event.

"It's great to see such a strong showing of support from the community, Noah's friends and our extended hockey family," RiverKings President Robin Costa said. "The money raised will help teens achieve their dreams and use that experience to help others in their community."

Noah's Gift was created to inspire and reward deserving young people with the gift of an extraordinary experience that was of interest to 16-year-old Noah Costa at the time of his death. His interests were as wide-ranging and fun as his personality: playing hockey, traveling, hiking, water sports, skydiving, and much more. Noah's Gift is an endowed fund at the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi.
