NLL Announces All-Star Game Starting Lineups

February 9, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release


The National Lacrosse League has announced the starting lineups for the 2004 All-Star Game. The game will feature the All-Stars of the East Division against the All-Stars of West Division. The game will be played on Sunday, February 22 at Pepsi Center in Denver, home of the Colorado Mammoth. The starting lineups were determined by the combined votes of the league's General Managers, league media, and the 2004 Killian's Irish Red All-Star Fan Balloting which was conducted on the league's website, www.nll.com.

EAST DIVISION ALL-STARS

Forwards

Colin Doyle, Toronto Rock leads the Rock in all offensive categories with 14 goals, 18 assists, and 32 points in five games this season. Doyle has also collected 19 loose balls. Doyle is tied for eight in the league with 14 goals, is fourth in the league with 18 assists, and fifth overall with 32 points.

John Tavares, Buffalo Bandits leads the Bandits with 17 goals, 17 assists, and 34 points in six games this season. Tavares has also collected 43 loose balls. Tavares is tied for third in the league with 17 goals, is seventh in the league in assists with 17, and fourth overall with 34 points.

Blaine Manning, Toronto Rock has totaled 11 goals, 17 assists, and 28 points in five games for the Rock this season. Manning is second in all offensive categories for the Rock behind fellow All-Star Colin Doyle. Manning has also collected 22 loose balls. Manning is ninth in the league in total points with 28.

Defensemen

Mike Hasen, Rochester Knighthawks has picked 26 loose balls and added an assist in six games played for the Knighthawks this season.

Pat Coyle, Toronto Rock has picked up 19 loose balls and tallied four assists in five games played for the Rock this season.

Goaltender

Pat O'Toole, Rochester Knighthawks has recorded a 10.65 goals against average in six games played for the Knighthawks this season. O'Toole has made 179 saves for a .740 save percentage on the season. O'Toole's 10.65 goals against average is third best in the league and his 179 saves is the fifth highest total in the league.

Head Coach

Darris Kilgour, Buffalo Bandits has coached the Bandits to a 4-2 start and first place in the East Division. Kilgour was voted Head Coach of the Year for the 2002-2003 season and has led his teams to the Champion's Cup Playoffs in each of his three season as a head coach.

Assistant Coach

Paul Day, Rochester Knighthawks has led the Knighthaws to a 3-3 start and tied for second place in the East Division. Last season, Day coached the Knighthawks to a 12-4 regular season record and led them to the Champion's Cup Final.

WEST DIVISION ALL-STARS

Forwards

Gavin Prout, Colorado Mammoth leads the league in all offensive categories with 20 goals, 25 assists, and 45 points through seven games played this season. Prout has also picked up 57 loose balls, the second highest total in the league.

Gary Gait, Colorado Mammoth has recorded 18 goals, 20 assists, and 38 points for the Colorado Mammoth through seven games played this season. Gait is second in all offensive categories for the Mammoth behind fellow All-Star and teammate Gavin Prout. Gait is also second in the league in every key offensive category. Gait was named Most Valuable Player for the 2002-2003 season, the sixth time he has won the League MVP Award.

Tracey Kelusky, Calgary Roughnecks leads the Calgary Roughnecks in assists with 16. Kelusky has also scored ten goals for a total of 26 points in six games this season. Kelusky is tied for ninth in the league with 16 assists. Kelusky has also picked up 30 loose balls.

Defensemen

Andy Ogilvie, Vancouver Ravens has picked up 47 loose balls to lead the Ravens defense. Ogilvie has also scored two goals and added four assists in five games played. The veteran defender was acquired from the Buffalo Bandits in a trade prior to the start of the regular season.

Jim Moss, San Jose Stealth has picked up 23 loose balls while scoring five goals this season for the Stealth in six games played this season. Moss was named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2002-2003 regular season.

Goaltender

Gee Nash, Colorado Mammoth has recorded an 11.30 Goals Against Average in six games played for the Mammoth this season. Nash also made 219 saves for a .782 save percentage on the season. Nash's 11.30 goals against average is the fifth best in the league, his .782 save percentage is the third best in the league, and his 219 saves is the second highest total in the league.

Head Coach

Jamie Batley, Colorado Mammoth has led the Mammoth to a 5-2 start and first place in the West Division. Last season, Batley took over as head coach in mid-season, leading the team to a 5-2 finish and a 9-7 overall record. Batley coached the team to the Champion's Cup Semi-Finals.

Assistant Coach

Chris Hall, Calgary Roughnecks has coached the Roughnecks to a 4-2 start and a tie for second place in the West Division. Last season, Hall coached the Roughnecks to a 9-7 regular season record and the club's first appearance in the Champion's Cup Playoffs.

The reserves for the East and West teams be selected by the coaching staffs and announced later this week.
