TACOMA, Wash. - NJ/NY Gotham FC faced OL Reign on the road on an extremely hot afternoon at Cheney Sadium. The team earned their third win of the season in a dominant 3-0 performance with goals from Ifeoma Onumonu, Margaret Purce, and Domi Richardson. With the win, Gotham FC now has 11 points on the season after six games.
The first half saw a lot of back and forth as both teams looked to control the midfield and take advantage of any opportunity to counter-attack. After 38 minutes, Gotham FC opened the scoreline. Purce sent a through ball that split OL Reign's backline to find Onumonu, who took a touch to get around Sarah Bouhaddi and found the back of the net to give her team the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
Within the first 15 minutes of the second half, Gotham FC extended their lead to 2-0 on a Purce goal. Nahomi Kawasumi got her head up and sent a ball over the defense for Purce who beat her defender and found the upper right corner for Gotham FC's second goal of the day. Gotham FC kept its foot on the gas and capitalized on another break when Evelyne Viens dribbled up the field, found Richardson making a run on the left, and slotted the ball to the far post.
Gotham FC returns home to Red Bull Arena for their game next week on Friday, July 2 to face off against Kansas City. The match will be a Pride-themed celebration and kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET. Following that match, the team will get back on the road to face the Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park on Sunday, July 11 at 3:00 p.m. ET. Single, group and season ticket memberships are now on sale and pricing details can be found here .
