The ninth annual Princeton Devil Rays/STAR 95 radio Home Run Derby will be held at Hunnicutt Field in Princeton, WV on Thursday August 5 and Friday August 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event is for people who want to test their hitting skills off of a pitching machine. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group.
Contestants may enter at any time during the hours specified with the results tabulated at the event's conclusion. Entry fee is $5.00 for seven swings and contestants may enter as often as they want. The most "homers" a contestant hits out of seven swings will be recorded as his best effort.
Thursday night will feature the following age categories: T-Ball (ages 6 and under), boys 7-12, girls 7-12, girls 13-20, and ladies 20 and over. Friday night will consist of boys 13-16, men 17-35, and men 36 and over. "Home Run" distances are pro-rated in conjunction with the age category involved.
Helmets and bats will be provided upon request. All contestants must sign an injury/liability release with contestants under 18 years of age having the release signed by their parent or legal guardian.
