Omaha Nighthawks News Release

A RUNDOWN OF THURSDAY'S HAPPENINGS AT TRAINING CAMP The Nighthawks worked out for a little more than two hours in helmets and shoulder pads as they wrapped up their sixth day of training camp. The Nighthawks worked on some pass skeleton and ran a high-intensity two-minute drill at the end of practice.

PLAY OF THE DAY The play of the day can go to the whole offense, who started near their own 30-yard line and marched down the field for a field goal in 1:33 to end practice. Led by quarterbacks Jeff Garcia and DJ Shockley, the Nighthawks worked efficiently and effectively in putting the football in field goal range, even though the defense wasn't allowed to go all-out in half pads. David Kircus made a diving 11-yard reception to put the Nighthawks in position at the 26-yard line, and Jeff Wolfert knocked home the 43-yard field goal.

QUOTES OF THE DAY Wide Receiver Ryan Hoag on winning the two-minute drill in practice "I think today was a better day for the offense. I feel like the defense has won our last three practices. The defense has out-tempoed us, and it was important to try and out-tempo them today. So I think it was definitely a day of improvement."

Hoag on Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage

"You only get one chance to leave a first impression. It's going to be great for the team and the fans to embrace what we're doing, how hard we're working, and it's the first step to a championship season."

Wide receiver Ryan Hoag perhaps has a future beyond football in reality television once his playing days are over. Hoag was a contestant on the reality TV series, "The Bachelorette," in 2008.

CAMP SCHEDULE The Nighthawks practiced just once on Thursday at the Kroc Center in Omaha. The team will go through its last two-a-day of the week on Friday in preparation for an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday at Papillion-La Vista High School at 3 p.m. The scrimmage is open to the media and season ticket holders.

WEATHER REPORT Weather conditions were great again on Thursday with temperatures in the mid-80s. The forecast for the rest of the weekend looks good also, with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper-80s.
