Omaha Nighthawks News Release

Omaha, NE - Monday, October 4: Dewayne White, a former second round NFL Draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has joined the undefeated Omaha Nighthawks. The Alabama native spent seven years in the NFL, playing for the Bucs and the Detroit Lions.

In his notable NFL career, White recorded 203 tackles, 27 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions and one touchdown. In 2004, he tied a Tampa Bay team record by recording at least half a sack in six consecutive games.

Former Louisville standout White was originally selected by head coach JEFF JAGODZINSKI with the first overall pick in the 2010 UFL Draft.

The Nighthawks are confident that the 6 foot 2 defensive end will make a positive impact in the team's first away game against the Las Vegas Locos on Friday, October 8.

"Pass rushers are hard to come by and we've had our eye on this one since the draft back in June," said Nighthawks General Manager RICK MUELLER. "We couldn't be more excited to have a quality player like Dewayne in a Nighthawk uniform."

Friday's match up against the 2009 UFL Champion Las Vegas Locos will kickoff at 9 pm CST on HDNet.
