Nighthawks Fly Past New Jersey, Advance to ABA Elite Eight

Upper Marlboro, MD. The Maryland Nighthawks, behind a huge performance from Dennis Edwards, defeated the New Jersey Skycats, 124 to 105 before a large crowd at ShowPlace Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Edwards led the team with 36 ponts on an incredible 15 for 18 shooting from the field. Five other Nighthawks scored in double figures; Lawrence Moten with 21, Jason Williams with 18 (in addition to 10 rebounds), Brian Chase with 16, Randy Gill with 14 and Antar Parkman added 10. The game was close through the mid point of the 3rd quarter when the Hawks took over the lead for good posting the 19 point win.

The Nighthawks now move to the "Round of 8" in the ABA single elimination tournament and will face the winner of the Texas Tycoon-Bellevue Blackhawks game which is set for Thursday, March 10th. If Texas wins, the Nighthawks will travel there to win; if Bellevue wins, the Nighthawks would host them in Maryland.
