ABA playoffs off to great start

March 7, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The ABA professional basketball league's single elimination tournament began last week with Kansas City's victory over a tough Los Angeles team.

Over the weekend, four more games were played, each hard fought and hotly contested with only one upset, the Kentucky Colonels defeating the Harlem Strong Dogs before a capacity crowd in New York. Mississippi won over a tough St. Louis team as did Maryland over New Jersey and Long Beach over Las Vegas.

The fans in all cities were treated to ABA action at its best - fast paced, high scoring and exciting. Three opening round playoff games remain - with the Tijuana Dragons facing the Utah Snowbears tonight, the Ontario Warriors visiting the Arkansas Rimrockers tomorrow night and the Bellevue Blackhawks visiting the Texas Tycoons on Thursday. The second round matchups, cities, and game times will be announced shortly.

As Tom Chichester, ABA Director of Officials stated, "One thing's for sure. Every team in this league has a chance to win on a given night. No team can take anything for granted."
