Nick Vorberg Will Give You Fries With That

MILWAUKEE (Nov. 18, 2008) - Milwaukee Wave goalkeeper Nick Vorberg joins Olympic gymnast Chelsea Memmel behind the counter at McDonald's on West National Avenue in West Allis on Thursday to promote World Children's Day.

Nick and Chelsea are celebrity crew members from 4-6 p.m. at the restaurant located at 10915 W. National Avenue. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House, which provides a home away from home for families of children being treated for serious medical conditions.

Vorberg won 17 games for the Wave last season, his best total since the Wave's 2004-05 championship season. He played this summer for the U.S. national futsal team at the FIFA Futsal World Cup and returns for his sixth season in a Wave uniform. In addition to his abilities on the field, Vorberg is active in the team's Making Waves school program, conducting assemblies for schoolchildren throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Wave open their Silver Anniversary season at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 with a home game against the Detroit Ignition. The inaugural season of the Xtreme Soccer League features Milwaukee, Detroit, the Chicago Storm and New Jersey Ironmen playing a 20-game schedule from mid-December through April.
