NFL Network's "Arena Football Friday" to be Seen by Troops Overseas
March 1, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release
TULSA, Okla. - The AFL is proud to announce the renewal of NFL Network games being broadcasted on American Forces Network (AFN), overseas in 2011.
The arrangement allows American Forces Network to distribute the 2011 AFL season to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families stationed outside the United States.
"We are proud to, once again, provide Arena Football League games on NFL Network to troops all over the world," Kurz said. "We appreciate their service and devotion and if we can bring a little bit of home to them with our Arena Football games, we are very pleased and proud to do so."
AFN broadcasted games will be shown on a combined live and tape-delayed basis throughout the 18-game regular season, playoffs and ArenaBowl XXIV.
"We are delighted to continue our relationship with the exciting and action-packed Arena Football League and once again bring AFL games to the U.S. military service members and their families deployed around the world," Chief of AFN Sports Programming Corey Slutsky said. "AFN provides a touch of home to those deployed, and having the AFL on our schedule allows us to continue to provide the best sports to our deserving audience."
The AFL began its partnership with NFL Network in 2010 featuring live "Arena Football Friday" telecasts on Friday nights in primetime.
The AFL season kicks off on NFL Network on Friday, March 11, when the Pittsburgh Power hosts the Philadelphia Soul at 8 p.m. ET.
