Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings' bid to host a playoff game came up short tonight, dropping their final game of the season 9-7 to the Rochester Knighthawks tonight in Rochester. The Wings did however qualify for post-season play for the first time since 2008, but will play a rematch at Rochester in the first round of the playoffs.

With a win the Wings could have secured their first home playoff game since 2002. The Wings finished the regular season with a record of 7-9 and in third place in the NLL's East Division. The Wings will be making their first playoff appearance since 2008.

The Knighthawks also finished the season at 7-9 but hold the season tiebreaker over the Wings after sweeping the season series, and as a result will host a playoff game next weekend.

Despite the loss Wings forward Dan Dawson broke the Wings single-season record of 100 points in a season, finishing the regular season with three points. The Wings were led by Dawson with two goals and forward Brendan Mundorf with three goals and three assists. Goalie Brandon Miller also played well in the loss notching 28 saves on 37 shots against.

The Philadelphia Wings are owned and operated by Philadelphia Wings L.P., whose principal owners are Russ Cline, Chris Fritz and Michael French. Comcast-Spectacor serves as the marketing, promotional, advertising, sponsorship and publicity arm of the Wings.
