News and Notes from the Sharks

August 3, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Wilmington Sharks News Release

Thursday night's rainout to conclude the regular season send the Sharks into the Petitt Cup Playoffs against fifth-seeded Columbia. Wilmington will host Game 1 of the postseason on Saturday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. and will travel to Capital City Stadium on Sunday for Game 2 and, if necessary, will again play in Columbia on Monday for a decisive third contest.

Because time was limited for fans to bid on the team's special McSharks jerseys, the team has decided to continue bidding on its website, www.wilmingtonsharks.com, until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3. All proceeds from the jersey auction will go to Ronald McDonald Houses of North Carolina.

Finally, the Coastal Plain League is allowing fans to help decide the 2012 WebPass Broadcaster of the Year award. Voting is currently ongoing at www.coastalplain.com.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Currently in its 16th season, The Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer. The CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 53 alums make their Major League debut thus far.
