
Newark Bears Announce Dwight Gooden as Senior VP

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY (September 10, 2009) - On Thursday, September 10,th the Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club announced the latest addition of Dwight 'Doc' Gooden to the organization, where he will take on the role of Senior Vice President.
Gooden will serve as an ambassador to the Newark Community taking baseball to the youth of the city.
"I plan on reaching kids who have never experienced baseball before, making sure they have access to instruction, access to Newark Bears baseball games, and access to the Negro League Museum exhibit here at Riverfront Stadium." said Gooden.
Gooden will also play a role in helping manager Tim Raines and the Newark Bears with baseball operations. "I'm looking forward to assisting the team in acquiring new talent, talking with prospective players, and helping the coaching staff in any way I can."
As the regular season comes to a close later this month, Gooden will join the front office and coaching staff to work out details of what will be an exciting baseball academy based in downtown Newark, NJ. "This year the Bears have hosted baseball camps for kids in Newark, in support of Jorge Posada foundation, and I'm going to build on that foundation in starting what will be a great baseball academy."
Gooden will start immediately, as the Bears play their final regularly scheduled games of the season and go into the Atlantic League playoffs, which start September 24, 2009.
