New York Titans Play Final Home Game of 2007 Season

March 29, 2007 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Orlando Titans News Release

The New York Titans (2-11) will battle the Edmonton Rush (4-6) on Saturday, March 31st at 12:30pm at Nassau Coliseum in the Titans last home game of the 2007 season. The Titans seek to get back on the winning track after dropping two games last weekend to Rochester and at Chicago.

"My goal in the final three games is to improve out consistency game to game while we continue to gain experience as a first year team," said Titans head coach Adam Mueller. "It is always exciting to play at home and for our players it's their last chance this season to show the fans some appreciation."

The Titans enter Saturday's game after playing two physical games against the Knighthawks and the Shamrox. In the Titans game against Rochester on Saturday, two Knighthawks were ejected as was Titan defenseman Anthony Kelly for game misconduct for a fight in the third quarter. During the Titans game against Chicago, Titans speedy transitional player Jarett Park served a 7-minute penalty for fighting with Shamrox forward Chris Panos, who served the same penalty. Mueller expects the game against Edmonton to be just as physical.

"We have been trying to play as physical as the game dictates. This past weekend a few sticks got up high on players from both teams and when you are competing in a game where physical play happens, tempers will rise," Mueller said. "Edmonton plays a physical brand of lacrosse on defense and it will be a very intense game for both teams."

Edmonton is currently fighting for a playoff spot in a stacked Western Conference. The Rush are ranked 5th in the West and are one-and-a-half games behind Calgary.

"Edmonton has a shot at the playoffs and we are fighting for respectability and wins as we near the end of the season," Mueller added.

With three games remaining in the Titans' season, Casey Powell is in striking distance of the single season assist record. He currently sits atop the NLL in assists with 51. The single season assist record is 71, which was set by Toronto's Josh Sanderson in 2005.

Saturday will also be Fan Appreciation Day with many fan prizes and giveaways. The game will be televised live at 12:30pm on SNY.

Tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster charge-by-phone, Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, the Nassau Coliseum box office or by logging onto www.nytitans.com. The Titans two final games of the season will be on the road - April 7th at Philadelphia and April 14th at Toronto. Both games will be televised on SNY.
