New York Titans End Inaugural Season With 12-11 Win in Toronto

April 14, 2007 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Orlando Titans News Release

The New York Titans ended their season on a high note Saturday night with a 12-11 win in Toronto against the Rock.

The Titans' rookies carried the team tonight, accounting for eight of the team's 12 goals. Matt Zash had a hot hand, leading the game in points with four goals and two assists. Brendan Mundorf netted three goals and dished one assist. And Greg Peyser added a goal in the win. Goalie Matt Vinc had 39 saves on 50 shots on goal.

For the Rock, Aaron Wilson scored four goals and recorded one assist.

The Titans' win against Toronto damages the Rock's hope to make the playoffs. Because Toronto and Philadelphia have identical records, the Rock's postseason chances hinge on the result of the Philadelphia-Chicago match being played tonight in Chicago. If Philadelphia wins, the Rock will be knocked out of playoff contention. If the Wings lose, the Rock will clinch the final play-off spot due to their better record against teams in their division.

The Titans swept the five-time World Champion Rock this season, with a win against Toronto at home and on the road. Tonight's win in Toronto marks the Titans' first road win of the season.

The Titans finished their inaugural season strong, winning two of their final three games and ending the season with a 4-12 record.

The Titans-Rock match-up will be televised on SportsNet NY tonight, Saturday, April 14, at 11pm EST.
