Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the National Lacrosse League Champion's Cup Playoffs next Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. when it hosts the San Jose Stealth in a West Division Semifinal at Pepsi Center.
Tickets start at $5 and are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 303.830.TIXS and at all Ticketmaster outlets. The game will be televised live on Altitude Sports & Entertainment.
The Mammoth won the West Division title with a 12-4 record, guaranteeing home-field advantage in the West Division Championship Game, should it advance. The Stealth finished at 9-7 and in a three-way tie for second place with the Arizona Sting and Calgary Roughnecks. Utilizing tiebreakers, Calgary obtained the West's No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 Arizona in the other semifinal.
The Mammoth and Stealth will be meeting for the third consecutive time, after closing out the regular season with a home-and-home series on Thursday and Friday during which each team won in its own building. It will be the first postseason meeting between the West Division rivals.
The Rochester Knighthawks won the East Division and hold the NLL's best record at 14-2. The Knighthawks will host the 6-10 Toronto Rock in an East Division Semifinal on Friday, April 20, while the Buffalo Bandits (10-6) will host the 9-7 Minnesota Swarm in the other semifinal on Sunday, April 22.
The Mammoth has qualified for the NLL playoffs in each of its five seasons in Denver and is 3-1 in postseason games at Pepsi Center. The Mammoth won its West Division Semifinal and West Division Championship Game at Pepsi Center last season before defeating the Bandits in the 2006 NLL Championship Game in Buffalo, N.Y.
