San Jose Stealth News Release

(San Jose, CA, April 13, 2007) --- The San Jose Stealth (9-7) finished their 2007 regular season schedule by pulling out a close game with the Colorado Mammoth (12-4). The Stealth will now wait and see if they will be taking on the Arizona Sting or the same Mammoth next week in the first round of the playoffs.

Colorado jumped out to an early lead by scoring 32 seconds into the first quarter as Gavin Prout scored the first of his seven points (3g, 4a). They would go on to score three more unanswered goals. The Stealth got their first tally with five minutes left in the quarter when Gary Rosyski notched his 31st goal of the season. The first quarter ended with the Stealth down 5-1.

The second quarter saw the two teams exchange goals in a solid display of offense. The Stealth cut the lead to 6-4 with Rosyski's third goal of the game at 10:38 of the second quarter. The Mammoth scored the next two goals to put San Jose down by four, 8-4 at the half.

The Stealth held the Mammoth scoreless in the third quarter and brought the score to 8-7 when Kyle Sorensen (two goals, one assist) put a goal past Mammoth goaltender Chris Levis late in the stanza. Going into the final 15 minutes of play the Stealth only trailed by 1 goal.

The Stealth completed their comeback five minutes into the fourth quarter when Luke Wiles (three goals, four assists) gave the Stealth a 10-9 lead. Sorensen added another goal two minutes later to push the Stealth lead to 11-9. Colorado would mount a comeback of their own but it was not enough to topple the Stealth who finished the regular winning eight of their last ten games.

Rosyski finished the game with four goals and three assists to give him 75 points (32g, 43a) on the season surpassing last season's total of 43 points (14g, 29a).

San Jose goaltender, Anthony Cosmo, had a season high 53 saves and picked up his ninth win of the season.

San Jose will find out tomorrow where their next game will be. If the Calgary Roughnecks lose tomorrow night to the Edmonton Rush, the Stealth will play their first round playoff game against the Arizona Sting and if Calgary were to win the Stealth would face the Colorado Mammoth for the third consecutive game.
